My fresh start

This text had been open on my computer for a long time. Now I am finally here, in front of the screen, my hesitation is left behind and the words are flowing in.

Here is a fresh start for me, a place for the thoughts that occupy my mind and need to be shared, the words that haven’t been but want to be written, the beauty and chaos that surrounds me and is willing to be captured.

Blog first post SMALL-1-4

I’ve always been anxious to share my perception of the world with more than a handful of people because I tend to underestimate my own point of view and especially my ability to express it. It is not that I am now all of a sudden self-confident. This is now my way to overcome these fears and to show life as I see it. And the most difficult part for me is to open up to give you a glimpse of my real inner self.

Blog first post-1-16

I am hoping this will be a place where I talk about topics that bother me most. At the moment, it is motherhood and our life together as a little family, our travels, the projects I’m up to with my husband, our home and my new home – Holland. There will also be some reading about my experience of emigration and integration into another culture.

Blog first post SMALL-1

For now, there’s a bit of our life. We are a family of three living in the middle of Holland. My husband is an industrial designer, and I have just finished working on a scientific project. At the moment, both of us are doing freelance work and raising our little girl, Aveline.

Blog first post SMALL-1-5

If you are reading this, there’s a big chance you are one of the people who motivated me to start this blog some time ago when I asked about your opinion on my Instagram page. I want to thank you for extending my borders.

I hope to meet you here again.

Hi Svilena, what a strange feeling it is to me to know that someone is experiencing similar kind of emotions regarding being a stranger in your own country. You put it so well, that’s exactly what I often think about.
Also, I am grateful for your generous compliments about my – still very fresh – blog and my Instagram page!
My best wishes to you, Madina

Well done! You did it. It looks beautiful. Your voice is thoughtful. I celebrate your imagination and authentic point of view. Kindness and support to women starting out on new journeys is much underrated. I send you much love. P’s. I know what you mean about not saying anything about projects/ambitions until there is something of substance to say. Ix

Dear Irene, it’s so pleasing to see you here, thank you for stopping by and taking a minute to write your kind words (as they also are)! I value your attention to me and my words a lot, and it gives me a little more self-esteem to continue what I started.
P.S. I had to smile reading your comment on talking about your projects. It just works for me this way best! I know people out there who think differently, but you and I seem to share this view 😉

Hi! Your words are some of my favourite on Instagram. We live in Canada but my husband is from the Netherlands. I had my first child, a baby boy, just over three months ago and this overwhelmingly incredible feeling would have before been indescribable. Being his mama is the best thing ever. You’re quite relatable and I look forward to reading more about your experiences. I know it can be difficult to document and share thoughts, it’s so personal.

Hi Laura, I so agree with you regarding the fact that motherhood is the best thing ever! I can imagine that having Dutch husbands we both can relate to the peculiarities of this culture. It feel funny to realise that both our children will carry it as half of their background. Thank you for your kind support, it’s very much appreciated, especially now that I’m just beginning to explore this space.

You both are so lovely! I started following you on Instagram a few weeks ago- your photos of you and your daughter are so simple and happy. Blogging has helped me express some of my thoughts on my life as a new mother, so I hope you find it a positive outlet as well. Hope you’re having a lovely day!

I’m here! I’m reading along. I applaud your bravery in beginning this new journey. It will challenge you in unforeseen ways. You may feel the blockage of self-consciousness on some days but my hope is for your to forge ahead past those feelings of self/doubt and emerge full of life and energized by all that you make in this space, just for you. I can’t wait to read along with you.

Danielle, your words describe everything very precisely, as always. Thank you for your support (especially coming from a blogger) and for reminding me that there’re bumps on this road, but it’s still fine. I will probably have my difficult moments, just as you say, but in the end I hope the result to be even sweeter.
